Because there's so much truth in the adage that the most precious thing you can give your kids is your time, this article may help you to do just that. Sure your present job allows you to buy them gifts such as toys, internet games or electronic doodads, but is that truly worth it? Investments will bring in money, but isn't the investment in your child worth a hundred times more?
Let us not forget the importance of things like family dinners, meeting your kids when they get off the bus, overseeing their homework and even caring for your kids when they are sick - all without having to miss a day at work - if you work from home.
There are many internet careers that can allow you more time with your family. Some of them are part-time and others are full-time careers. However, it surely would be nice to not have to pay for childcare, nor commuting expenses, wouldn't it?
For instance, there's data entry, typing from home and paid online surveys. Granted you will not become rich beyond your dreams by taking surveys, but you can earn good money for just completing those surveys online.
Each of these suggestions will give you the time you seek. If you can write, you may offer your services as a freelance writer. There's also document coding, legal or medical transcription, translators, telemarketers, proofreaders and online tutors. If you are very computer literate, you might find an online job as an IT specialist, or setting up web pages.
Other jobs that may be not only lucrative but will allow you time for going with the family to school functions, and perhaps even home schooling your kids are making outgoing calls for sales promotions, interviewing the public, and conducting surveys. Or you may become an editor performing miracles with others' writing.
Running your own business from your home is often lucrative. Please note that this is what makes E-Bay so popular. There are also job opportunities in multi-level marketing or you could become an outsourced home-based call-center worker.
Fun jobs can come from hobbies as you turn your hobby into a business. If your office work used to entail accounting, you can do accounting work from home. Customer service reps are mostly working from home now.
So what will you do with the time you have for your kids between working at these jobs from home? Suggestions are: telling them stories, go out on picnics to the park, take them to an amusement park, set up a family night for playing games, take your kids to a professional game such as hockey, baseball, football, tennis or golf, or take road trips together. There's swimming, camping or cooking together, not to mention taking afternoon naps on the same bed together, just you, the kids and their pets.
The possibilities are endless as are the warm, loving rewards you will receive. Childhood should not be wasted but enjoyed and they grow up so fast, don't they?
Telecommuting, or allowing others to work from remote locations, is a great way for your company to save money. It's a fact that telecommuting is a great way to have employees do work, especially considering the fact everyone is more comfortable at home. Needless to say, you won't need that large building with all of those offices since your employees don't need to travel.
Also, at least 44 million Americans participate in telecommuting. But why do companies not fully accept telecommuting as a solution to making a larger overall salary? Put simply, they don't believe it will. Maybe you believe the same, but this article will make you think differently.
The workplace is stressful, that's for sure. As frantic as a class 4 hurricane and as heated as a kiln, the work environment isn't as efficient as one would think. The comfort of one's home is really the best place to get work done, especially since there's little to no stress.

Also, you don't have to worry about a large company building since you don't need all of that office space. With all of those employees working from home you barely even need a building. Big companies can save heating and air conditioning costs by having fewer people working in a smaller office.
In fact, a large company called Sun Microsystems saved $68 Million in real estate costs alone when they issued a new "Open Work" policy. The "Open Work" policy meant that employees could choose to either work from home or at work. Care to guess what most of them chose?
Telecommuting is the way to go for big companies but the higher ups generally have a hard time accepting the trend. However, don't let old fashioned business ideas scare you away from asking your boss to consider the idea of telecommuting. With today's increased technology, it's so easy to keep in touch with employees or other team members so there really shouldn't be any concerns.
If your company hires telecommuters, start publicizing that fact so you can recruit more skilled people. Working from home is a dream to many people and if you start telecommuting, recruitment would be a lot more competitive and there will be a lot more public interest in your company. Make your life easier by making their lives easier!

More and more Americans are trying to take their jobs out of the office and put them into their home; it was a trend before the economic downturn, and if history is anything to go by, more home businesses get their start in economic down turns than any other time. If you've got a skill that you think you can market, read on for how to find a way to turn your skills and your dreams of running your own home based business a reality.
First, let's look at the downsides. A lot of freelancers like to say "I love working for myself; I work part time, and I get to choose which 14 hours of the day I work." Working from home is a job. It's not "getting paid for sitting in your bathrobe and watching TV" no matter what the various ads for multi-level marketing programs like to say.
You're going to have to work to make this happen; lots of people can do the work. You're only going to succeed if you enjoy the work. To succeed, look at the following list as an ingredient list. If these traits are part of your personality, then your odds of success are going to be much higher.
1) Problems with authority figure issues. If you hate taking instructions from someone who you feel is dumber than you are, then, guess what. You're probably on the first step towards entrepreneurship. You may be someone who becomes a serial entrepreneur - starting businesses, getting them up and running, then selling them off because they've become less interesting to you.
2) A strong desire to do your best, even if it means taking less money, or getting less prestige. This ties into the "problem with authority" item above in a couple of interesting ways: If you'd rather get paid less, but do the work you want to do, and do the work you think needs to be done to succeed, then this is another positive trait for an entrepreneur.
3) Working for the challenge. If you're the sort of person who needs someone to tell you something can't be done to thrive, if you thrill from the idea of proving them wrong, and have the ego to take your idea and shove it into the face of the people who told you you'd fail...well, you might be an entrepreneur.
4) Innovation and uncertainty make you thrive. If you're constantly looking for a new or better way to do something, then entrepreneurship is probably already calling for you. If you are willing to take a risk with your own (or investor's) money, then take on the goal of starting your own business. While these traits can be enhanced by training, they really only manifest themselves when you're running a business.
You'll also note that we didn't mention what hot skills you need to have, be it computer programming, graphic design, or being a top-flight editor or writer. We're assuming that if you want to be in business for yourself, you're going to invest in your craft and your skill, and any skill we recommend to you as being "good for an entrepreneur" is either going to lead you astray, or be laughable, because if you're going to run your own business, you already know what you love doing.
Keeping your business going requires an entirely different set of skills from founding it, and will be another article.
