Have you ever thought you could make money online and work from home without having to fork out tons of your own money? Believe it or not, there are ways to make money on the Internet without having money and there are a number of ways in which this can be accomplished.
The following are four ways to make money without having money and work from home:
Sell Your Self
Many small businesses start out this way and find that it is the easiest way to start making money without having to invest their own.
The key to this is figuring out what you have that you could offer. Are you an expert at something? Do you know how to fix things? Perhaps you are great at making websites, or in graphic design.
Whatever your forte, taking the skills that you already have and marketing them, as a service, is the easiest way to make money without money. Not having a physical product per say, you won’t have to spend money; you will be marketing a set of skills and this can be worth more than any product.
So how do you get the word out about your service? Easy, there are a ton of free classified sites as well as free to join social media sites where you can promote your service without having to spend a dime advertising it. If you are savvy enough to create your own graphic/logo, you can also save money this way.
Sell a Product
This is another extremely easy way to make money working from home without having to put out your own money. This is affiliate-based marketing. You simply use other peoples products by referring the customer to a website to buy the product, or by being an affiliate/ reseller and selling the item on your site. Every time a customer clicks to buy the product, you will get a commission for selling the product. Easy as pie and you didn’t have to buy a thing.
Be sure to choose products that best represent your website or blog contents. This will bring more targeted traffic to your site and the potential for more buyers.
Sell Advertising Space
Contextual ads that are placed on websites are quickly becoming the way to make money online. It works by placing ads that coincide to the content of your site. People who click on those ads actually make you money every time they do so. Again, an easy way to make money without having to spend money.
Money From Little Effort
Do you constantly search the web? Have you ever taken an online survey? You can make money by helping companies review their items or simply by searching the Internet, something you do already, right?
Do a search for “get paid to take surveys online” or “paid surveys” and you will find companies offering cash for you to do just that: searching the internet and taking surveys.
Consumer research is a huge market and they are always looking for product testers or reviewers to try their products. Tap into this market to make some money by working at home now.
Do be careful when looking for a home business opportunity to avoid possible scams. There are real home business opportunities out there; you just have to be very careful when looking for them by doing some research before getting involved.
Do get a W-9 tax form – This is a tax form for independent contractors and is beneficial to you come tax time when you have to clarify your earnings! This means that the company you are working for is a legitimate Internet business opportunity because they report to the IRS.
Do have a home office – This is especially true if your home-based business involves you having to use the phone. Make sure you have a quiet room in your house away from kids and animals and other distractions so you can project the professional that you are.
Do follow a schedule – Because you are working from home, you may think you can do things at any time and yes, you can. But, if you set up a schedule and stick to it each day, you will find you get more done. When running a work at home program you can easily get distracted away from your work.
Do keep records – If you don’t have a filing cabinet, either go buy one or make one out of a dresser drawer because you need to keep all your records. Keep records of everything you do and a timetable of when you performed the tasks. This is very important when being compensated for your home business.
Don’t give your personal information – If you are ever asked for your personal information for a home-based business opportunity, wait before you give that out. The big one is your social security number, if someone gets a hold of that along with a little bit of seemingly harmless information, they can become you. Do a little background check on the company before you give out any information of that nature.
Don’t assume you will always have work – This is where many people are hit the hardest. You may have weeks; even months, where you are always busy and have things to do. You may be making some great money during this time as well but, for all the weeks you are busy, there will be weeks where you have nothing. Home based businesses go through the same ebb and flow as any other company to, put some money away when you can to get through the slow times.

Spending more money doesn’t seem like an intuitive way to help the bottom line of your small home business, but it can be if you know how to work outsourcing right. Most people can do a few tasks related to their business fairly well. They can do the accounting or make the product or bang out a marketing plan. Some things are not the owner’s strength, however. Using outsourcing on those parts of the business actually can save money. How?
For starters, outsourcing portions of the job you aren’t good at doing will help you save time. Let’s say you aren’t good at writing, but you need content for a website. You may spend an hour working on a short article and still be unhappy. If you outsourced that work to a web content writer, you could pay the fee for the article and spend that hour marketing. The hour you spend marketing can bring in more traffic, and thus more money for your site than the hour you spent on the article. Thus the net gain for your business from outsourcing the writing was positive.
Outsourcing also allows you to bring in more money because you can get a professional product. Consider for a moment a restaurateur who has excellent culinary skills but poor design skills. This restaurateur develops wonderful recipes, but her design of the menu looks shabby and amateur. Customers may be reluctant to try the restaurant because of the design. Outsourcing the work of designing the menus, then, earns more money than doing it oneself.
Another way to save money through outsourcing is by hiring a firm to handle a common task. This type of outsourcing is most common with billing. When one hires a billing firm, that business owner pays a fee based on the amount of work. This method allows you to pay for the work you need rather than having someone on payroll and paying that person regardless of whether there is work for that day. Outsourcing also eliminates the need to provide benefits to employees as the outsourced firm will handle that need.
While many people believe that the small home based business owner has to “do it all” to make the business run on a shoestring, some business owners can realize savings through outsourcing. Take a careful look at your businesses needs. Determine which ones match your strengths and then consider whether you would be better off outsourcing some of that work to others. It is a wonderful time management tool. It allows you to focus on your strengths regarding running a business, and let others focus on what may be a weakness.
Since in most cases, outsourcing requires a fee being paid, most new business owners shy away from utilizing it. This can be a mistake when you logically focus on the benefits outsourcing can provide. It would be in your best interest and the best interest of your company to carefully consider what it could bring to the table. Most who do outsource work continue to do so as their eyes are now open to the true “savings” it can provide.

Many home based business owners do not have a website. This is definitely a bad idea, as the Internet is one of the leading forms of advertisement. Having a website has become as common to a business as having a telephone, even more so in some ways! It is a necessity for any business, but especially for one that is home based. There are many main reasons that a website can improve your business and help make it flourish.
Location. Any business needs a good location to get started at. Whether you are a hair salon or a restaurant, you will want your business to be at a prominent location, one that many people visit or are near to.
When you are a home based business, you don’t exactly have this option. Sure, you may have many neighbors, or live close to a major roadway, but how many people will actually know where you are when you work out of your home? That is why a website is so important to your home business – to get your name out there for those who would not otherwise see it.
A website will also help establish you and your business as a serious one. Every important business, company and person has their own website or blog in today’s world. Not having one will result in looking like you are behind the times, as well as non-professional. Having a website allows a company to advertise their services and products in the most current and reliable fashion.
Having a website for a home based business also works as one of the most valuable marketing tools there is. Your website will be your own virtual office – one that you can work from any time. Any updates, new products and services can all be added to your website at any time of the day. Websites are very inexpensive to run, and many people learn how to put together their own with very little effort.
You can expand your market with a website, as well. No more of the times where you could really only reach out to your own geographical location – now you can reach out to the world. Advertising is extremely cheap, and you will almost always see an increase to your business after setting up a website. The benefits of having a website for your home based business are numerous, so strongly consider having one no matter what your company or business is.
