Many men and women are getting work at home jobs because they are being laid off. They work in a number of areas such as customer service, writing, and transcription, just to name a few. Most of these opportunities do not require any experience or training.

Any type of training that is required may be offered through the job itself. Working from home is hard, but it can be done. Unlike working on-site, working out of the home takes more time and being able to work independently.

Work at home jobs in customer service either requires workers to be employees or independent contractors. In order to work for the company, some companies require a certain amount of experience. Another thing that is required is to have a home office with all the necessary equipment.

Some companies give certain equipment to all workers. After the equipment is ready, there are a number of tests and/or interviews that must be taken. This is to see if the person can handle the type of work that the company handles. Also, some companies require a background and credit check.

Writing has become one of the biggest work at home jobs for people to do. As long as a person has basic English skills, they can become writers. It may take a while to start making any decent money as a writer. Many writers have earned up to $2,000 a month, writing part-time. Of course, more money could be earned, if a writer wanted to work full-time. Anyone that is interested in writing can write novels or articles. There are a lot of companies that hire new writers.

General, legal, and medical transcriptions are also work at home jobs that are fairly easy to get into as well. The main requirement is to be a fast typist. There is a list of companies that hire new and experienced workers that can be found online. Medical transcription is hard for a new person to do from home, unless they go to a school that is AHDI-approved, such as Andrews School, Career Step, and Richland Community College.

Legal transcription requires some type of legal training. Special equipment may be needed to work for certain companies, such as a four-track cassette recorder. The easiest transcription to get into is general. Most companies will hire without experience as long as you pass their test. For all three types of transcription, they require a foot pedal, headphones, transcription software, and high speed Internet.

Work at home jobs require long hours and being able to stay motivated. A person can easily become distracted when they are an independent contractor. They have to set their own hours.  In order to make sure that the work is done in a timely fashion, set goals. Write down how much money you want to make each day. This will keep the person from getting distracted.
