When you decide you want to work at home, you need to make sure you can stand strong and do what you need to do. If you need to make this work so you can continue to stay home, you need to do everything you can to make your business a success.
There are challenges that can be hard to overcome, but when you do you’ll reach the goals you set in place for your business. Here are just a few of those challenges.
1. TV
The TV can be a huge challenge. If you have shows you enjoy watching, you may find that they are on during the day. You’ll need to control yourself and keep the TV off. If you need to, set the DVR to record them so you can watch them in the evening after your work is complete.
2. Family or friends
Family and friends can be a challenge. When they are off work or they don’t work, they may want to spend time with you. This can put a damper on your work schedule.
3. Sleep
If you don’t get enough sleep you may find yourself sleepy during the day. When this happens you may find yourself sleeping on the job or you may doze off. Get enough sleep each day so you can be productive during your work hours.
4. Children
Your children can be a distraction. While you want them to be around, they can cause problems with deadlines and work loads. Make sure you plan your day around them. If you have little ones, work while they nap and in the evenings when they can be watched by others. If they are older, create a schedule that will keep them busy during your work hours.
Identify the challenges in your day and then figure out how to overcome them so you can be successful. There are a couple of strategies you can use to make this happen.
- Schedule your time around your challenges so you can avoid them at all costs.
- Get rid of your challenges so they won’t be tempting.
- Place your office in a portion of the house that doesn’t have easy access to your challenge.
- Find someone that you can talk to daily or weekly that can encourage you to leave your challenges behind.
Challenges can create problems when you’re a business owner. Working at home means you don’t have a boss that watches over your shoulder each day. It can prevent you from making the money you need to continue to work at home. When you eliminate the challenges from your day, you’ll have the success you want and need. Use these suggestions to make it happen.

Getting people to take my business seriously has be a challenge. People keep telling me about job openings, as if my home business is just something I am doing until I find a job. Or they call and are surprised when I refuse their invitation because I need to work. They have no idea how great it is to have my own business. I like the article a lot. I am going to tweet it. Thank you
