Before making decisions about the type of business to run from home, you have to analyze your skills to determine your choices. Start your home based business as a freelance writer if you have excellent writing skills. Even if you've never used those skills to earn money in the past, don't let that stop you.
Being a writer opens up endless possibilities to investigate. Is this to be a supplement to a full time job or your only job? Either way, there are many ways to make money. You simply have to learn where to find them.
If it's a supplement to your full time job, then there isn't the same pressure to make money. If you decide this will become your only job, then you're taking on a load of stress to make money which will make it harder, so it's probably best as a second income until you have some success.
You can target offline and online sources as work options. Offline possibilities can include: writing articles for magazines or journals; writing for different sections of newspapers; depending on your skill, you could perhaps consider writing a book, either fiction or non-fiction, and look at getting it published. Perhaps play writing is more your desire. That can be very lucrative if you write good material.
There are numerous writing competitions you can enter and possibly make money from if you win. If not, at least you're honing your skills. Everything you write improves your ability to some degree.
As for online opportunities, there are many more choices for you. Working as a freelancer has a lot of advantages. Working online also opens your opportunities as you can write for markets other than the country you live in.
There are a lot of different freelance sites that you can check out for jobs. They include tasks such as: poetry writing, articles, blogs, research papers, proofreading jobs, translating from one language to another, ebooks, full length books and plays, ghost writing, resume writing, etc.
The list is endless. Pay rates can vary enormously and can vary according to your skill and whether you have an active rating on a particular site. When starting, be prepared to work for small amounts of money to prove your-self. The better you become, the more money you can ask for. Most freelance sites ask people to bid on jobs, like an auction, so get accustomed to the way they work and you'll have a starting point.
If you want to start your home based business as a freelance writer, the scope of possibilities is endless. Develop your skills and who knows; maybe you could be another J.K.Rowling.
When you're writing any form of advertising, it's essential to use your main weapon. Emotional marketing for your internet business is one of the most powerful reasons why people spend money. Think about how you feel when you buy things yourself. There are usually one or more emotional triggers.
Fear is powerful. Insurance companies use fear all the time. Buy insurance in case you have a car accident or get robbed. Take out life insurance to protect your loved ones in case of sudden death or permanent incapacity. This proves the fear factor really works.
Trust is another emotion. Banks use it heavily. Bank with them and your money is safe. If you leave it under your mattress, it could get stolen. Most internet marketers focus on trust and encourage you to trust them through all sorts of marketing ploys.
Trend-setting is very popular, especially among the younger people. They want to be the first to get any new technology. If their friend has the latest gadget, they need it too. Parents can attest to this strong emotive trigger. Internet marketing uses the same techniques. Join this site now and you'll have the best tools to make thousands of dollars. Grab it before your friends do.
Value is a huge marketing tool. Concepts such as "buy one, get one free" or "if you find a better price, we'll match it" are very common online and offline. Internet marketers usually throw in a few freebies if you make a purchase so you believe you now have better value for your money.
A sense of belonging is what most people crave. Whether it's at work, school, a social or sporting group or an internet business, there's always a push to encourage you to "buy this item and join the thousands of other successful marketers making money today." You don't want to feel left out.
Competition is a huge factor in emotional marketing. Bob has a Porsche so Gary has to buy a Lamborghini. In any used car sales yard, you'll find strong competition because the guys make commissions on everything they sell. These are two classic cases. In internet marketing, competition can be pushed by people comparing success stories of how much money they make or how many people they have in their business.
Instant gratification is a huge emotional trigger. Websites advertise "if you buy before midnight tonight this will be $7.99. Tomorrow it reverts to the original price of $49.99." You don't want to miss out, so you grab the credit card and away you go. The credit card is the ultimate case for causing problems down the track as a result of making snap decisions. Buy now and get the bill next month.
Use emotional marketing for your internet business in the right way and you'll see some amazing results.

Choosing the perfect name for your online business plays a huge part in whether you succeed or fail. If you choose something that means a lot to you but makes no sense to anybody else, or is irrelevant to what you're doing, then nobody will find you online. No visitors means no customers and no money.
Your name should be easy to remember and easy to distinguish from others. Avoid using generic names because they don't create the extra excitement when people read it. Anybody can be called "Tom's Painting Services" or "Gail's Graphics." Don't use place names either, because your business is online and the world is your marketplace.
Don't be too narrow or literal in the name you choose or it'll restrict future trade. Remember that most businesses start small but grow and end up with many different products or services on offer. Keep the name short but still descriptive. Make it easy to remember. Ensure it isn't already registered or you can get into legal trouble down the track and don't try to copy a well known name with only minor changes because many a legal battle has been fought over that as well.
While you're thinking about a domain name, also consider what sort of logo you'll use. Can the name be incorporated into it somehow? Whether its colors or shapes or some sort of character, a logo can be very powerful. One of the world's most well known logos is the "Golden Arches" of McDonalds.
Have a short list of names that you think will be good and then test them out. Ask friends and family for their opinions. If you belong to any business forums, ask for opinions there too. See whether people have better ideas or if one of your choices seems to be a winner.
Using a search engine, check if any of the possible names appear or if anything appears that is too similar which indicates it may not be a good choice. Remember that once you have a name, you're stuck with it because that's what you'll use on your website, in emails, sales copy, on products maybe, in ebooks, etc. and you don't want people remembering a name for the wrong reasons.
Once you have the best name chosen, register the domain name. A dot com name is the best name to have, but if you want to be thorough, you can also register dot net, dot tv, dot info and whatever other names you like, and have them all pointing to your website. This blocks competitors trying to steal your customers. Choosing the perfect name for your online business is the first vital decision to make. Don't blow it.
