More and more women today are finding that they don't have to leave the comfort of their own homes to make a good income. They can simply find a great job at home doing something they love. And today, there are more home based jobs for women than ever. Here are a few ideas that should get you thinking about the right home job for you if you're a woman who's tired of slaving away for somebody else!

Cooking

If you love to cook, consider cooking food in your own kitchen and selling it! This can be done by selling it at Farmer's Markets a few times a week. Although this will take you out of the home once in awhile, you will do all of the cooking at home and will only need to be at one Farmer's Market for a couple of hours. But, if the customers keep coming in for your home-baked goods, you might want to keep your tent set up for a little bit longer!

And if you love to cook but don't like the idea of Farmer's Markets, you could consider becoming your own caterer. This could require a bit more legwork on your part as you might need to hire staff and maybe even get a commercial cooking permit. But you’ll still be able to set your own hours and again, do most of the cooking right inside your own home.

Day Care

If you have a domestic side but don't want to spend your extra hours slaving away in the kitchen, consider running a day care from your home. You will never have to leave your home unless you want to take the kids for a walk to the park. Have moms in the neighborhood drop off their kids in the morning and pick them up on their way home from work. Depending on how many children you watch during the day, this could make a fantastic income!

Answering Phones

There are many companies that need someone who can take an overflow of phone calls throughout the day. Many call centers do this because it's cheap work for them that can be easily outsourced. Answering phones sometimes still has set hours so for women who want to make their own hours because they have an odd schedule, this might not be the job for them.

Data Entry Work

Women who are good with typing and can do it quickly and work in software easily can take advantage of data entry work. This type of work usually pays per page or per block of data. It is easily done from home with documents being emailed back and forth but it does require great attention to detail. Also, because there's so much typing in this job, those who are not great on a keyboard may find this type of work not worthwhile.

Writing

There are thousands of freelance writing jobs available online today. Websites such as Helium and Associated Content provide opportunities for writers to showcase their capabilities while other sites such as Elance and Digital Point Forums connect writers directly with those looking to buy pieces.

Transcription jobs are also great home based jobs for women who are looking to write. These jobs are usually hired directly through one company and require the ability to listen to audio notations and transfer them verbatim to typed notes. This job also requires great attention to detail and the ability to type quickly.
