Lots of people like the idea of working from home and being their own boss. It's a dream that can become a reality. Imagine wearing your pajamas to work. Think about working whenever you feel like it. Have a break if you want and nobody is looking over your shoulder.

Starting an honest and potentially lucrative Internet Marketing business can be a lot of hard work, but it can also be fun if you want it to be. Working from home has a lot of benefits. The sorts of things you would do include:

• using your creative juices to build a website that attracts people like bees to honey 
• searching different sites for research
• writing advertisements for products and services you're selling
• designing banner and various squeeze and splash page advertisements using whatever   designs you like
• surfing traffic exchanges
• educating yourself on the business while you work
• helping other people achieve their dreams
• creating a better life for yourself
• not answering to a boss
• working the hours you want to

As long as you have a legitimate business idea or join a business that actually does what it claims to do, all of this could become your reality. If you work full-time currently, try this as a part time occupation at first and see how you go. But work with a determined attitude or you'll never succeed.

Is it really as simple as it sounds? Of course not or everyone would be doing it. There are a lot of tough choices to be made if you do want to work for yourself. An employer will generally pay you sick pay, holiday pay, maternity leave or vacation. If you work for yourself, you have none of these entitlements, especially at first. If your business flourishes, you may be able to "pay yourself" for taking time off.

If you own a business, you have to put in a lot of hard work. If you have a second business for extra money because you're primary occupation isn't earning enough, that isn't as stressful. But if you're sole income relies on your performance and the money from this new business venture, then you need to put in as many hours as possible.

Having said that, if you look at the likes of people such as Bill Gates and Richard Branson, you can see two very clever men who were once in the same boat. They each started a business with an idea and it made them extremely wealthy men. Ideas don't have to be original to make money. But everything we have is because someone once had an idea and became successful at creating it.

Whatever you choose to do should be something that is legitimate, has a potential for good earnings, and is something that you can achieve based on current skills and learning ability. Whether you choose a totally online based business or an offline business, it's the effort YOU put in that will either make or break the business.

People skills are very important. In fact, if you don't have the ability to relate to people on all sorts of different levels, then your work will be much harder because the majority of jobs include dealing with other people at least some of the time. Learning people skills is harder than learning practical skills such as: computer usage; manufacturing or selling of products; trades such as plumbers, electricians, carpenters, house builders, fashion design and more; laboring work and secretarial work.

A lot of these jobs can be run as home based businesses once the relevant skills are acquired. But mastering the art of dealing with people from all walks of life is a gift that you are either born with and it improves with experience, or you have to work extremely hard to develop the necessary skill set.

Running a business from home isn't a simple thing to do, but anything worthwhile is never easy. But if your business becomes successful, it will make all the hard work pay off. The ball is in your court.
