Almost anyone can make money working at home as a freelance writer. Writing ezine articles, blog posts, ebooks, reports and other website content is a profitable home based business solution. And all it requires is a computer and keyboard to begin.
While you may not think of yourself as a writer, you may be surprised to find how easy it is to make money working online from home doing just that... writing!
Freelance writers have found that writing for the web is a whole other ball game compared to writing for print publication. And it's proven to be a profitable discovery.
Writing for the web is a lighter style of writing. It's designed for quick reading, even skimming or scanning. As such, it doesn't need to use ten-dollar words, be grammatically pure, or be written on a college level.
In fact, writing for the web should use common language, including contractions and sentence fragments, should be filled with short paragraphs and lots of white space, and should be written on a sixth grade reading level which makes it quick to read and easy to understand.
Because the Internet is so full of information, very few people read website content word for word. Online writers who can coherently share information on a variety of topics can sell their talents--either in the form of ebooks, reports and articles--or in the form of writing and proofreading services for other home business owners.
To get started, begin visiting online forums that cater to home business owners and Internet marketers. Often these forums will have a section geared to writers.
Register, start reading, and responding to posts. You'll find a variety of people who are making money online by writing who will gladly share their expertise. There's plenty of work to go around!
Create a signature line for your forum profile that tells others that you're a writer. Link to your website or blog for more information or for samples of your work.
Never post ads inappropriately, however! It could not only get you banned from the forum, but it could sour your prospective clients toward you. Follow forum procedures and become a valuable resource to the online community.
As people get to know you, they'll begin to ask you for quotes on writing projects they need for their businesses. By this time, you will have your rates determined and will be able to give them a price for the writing they need.
Don't despair if you don't get the first job you quote. Or even the first five! While there's plenty of work to go around, there is also a lot of competition. Keep building your online reputation, writing articles that you post on your website for content and so others can see samples of your work, and the writing jobs will come.
While you're waiting for paying clients, write your own products to sell. Ebooks, reports and ecourses on almost any topic can bring in a good enough income on their own that you may decide you don't want to deal with clients. You may choose to make money by e-publishing alone. And that's okay!
Selling products you self-publish is a tremendous way to make money working from home as a writer. After all, isn't that the goal?
If you have ever performed a search for work at home companies then you know there are literally thousands of sites offering you the biggest and best payouts to work from home. The problem is, most of these sites are scam sites. As frustrating as this may be, there is legitimate work from home jobs out there; you just need to know what to look for.
The best way to look for a job from home is to go to a company's site that you know is legitimate. Many well-known companies contract people to work from home because it saves them money to hire someone from home rather than hiring traditional in-house workers.
The telecommuting field has opened up over the years, especially in the last couple due to the recession. Work from home employees is often hired under a 1099 contract, which means they are responsible for their own taxes at the end of the year. They are also not usually given the option of medical or other insurance like a traditional employee.
This saves the company thousands of dollars on just one worker so it is no wonder they are actively seeking people to work from home for them. Check your local paper classified section or do a search online for the company you are interested in and see if they are hiring work from home workers or telecommuters as they may be listed.
The main jobs most companies are looking for are people to be customer service representatives or sales people. This entails people answering phone calls on the behalf of the company or selling products on a commission basis from home, either online, offline, or both. You usually are paid via check either through mail or via direct deposit.
Whether you choose to work from home answering calls, doing administrative work, or are involved in sales, you need to be sure you have all of the paperwork required and that it is all legitimate. Do a search online for work from home forums and you will have access to a wealth of information from others who have been successful working from home.
Doing extensive research on a company you are interested in will help you make a better-informed decision. This is not an easy road to take. You need to put in the time and effort to find a work at home job opportunity that will work with your lifestyle. Once you have the information, go ahead and get started making money from home on your own terms.

The current economic recession we are in hit just about one year ago and, forecasters aren't predicting any quick turnaround even at this time. If you are like many people who have found themselves struggling with bills, you are probably looking for a little additional income. Finding online work at home is a great way to add some extra money to your income.
This is not to say that you can just go and find something immediately that will pay you a lot of money quickly. Most work at home jobs are a little time consuming and take a little while to really start to help pay the bills. If you stick with it, you can definitely make a pretty solid and consistent income but it does take time and a lot of effort.
The first thing you need to know about finding work at home is that there are a lot of scams out there and their goal is to get your money. If you see a work at home opportunity that just looks way to good to be true, bets are that it probably is. It's not normal to expect to make thousands a week with only a little effort because it doesn't work like that at all.
If you are serious about finding work at home, you will want to make sure you aren't putting all your eggs into one basket and branch out into multiple things. There are a number of ways to make some extra money working at home. Here are a few of the most common and most needed work at home positions you will find.
Paid Surveys
Corporations use surveys to see what trends are going on right now so they know how to plan for them. Most of the companies will pay you for your opinion about their stores; products, shopping habits and other information that will help them make more money from their customers.
Freelance Writer
The web is always in need of more and more content and many websites will pay you to become a writer. There are also websites where you can join, for free, and then select articles from lists, write them, and then are paid for it. If you have done it long enough, and well enough, you may even pick up your own clients who you write for all the time.
Website Owner
If you think you have a great idea or service to provide people, you can create your own website and fill it with various ads and affiliate links. Every time someone visits your site and clicks on an ad, you end up getting paid a little. This is not something that will give you tons of cash fast because you need to build the site up but, over time, it can become a good income grabber.
One thing to remember with finding online work at home is that it will take some time to see the benefits of your work but, once you get into it, you can definitely make some good money working from home.
