Many of us want to work from home and make money but it's hard to know what business opportunities are worth our trouble. Most of us don't have a great deal of cash to invest, or much time to dedicate to building a home based business. But with bills piling up and mouths we need to feed, running an online business working from home seems like a viable way to earn some extra cash. And it is!
Before deciding on a new business opportunity, however, you need to decide if the opportunity is truly legitimate. Diligently do everything you can to be sure it is before you invest your time and effort, not to mention your money. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions, even if you verge on being annoying! Make sure the opportunity is something you will truly be able to do, something that will interest you, something you won't get bored with, and something that won't interfere with your family and lifestyle.
There are several potential, legitimate online businesses you can start and run from home:
• Web Content Writer
Every website contains web content. They couldn't possibly survive without it. But many webmasters don't have the time, energy or ability to write sharp, snappy content that will attract clients and customers. All you really need is an ability to write clear, precise and error-free articles and you can start your online career today.
• Affiliate Marketing
If you want to run a website but don't have any marketable products or services, consider affiliate marketing. By joining an affiliate marketing program, you are basically allowing a company to advertise their products and services on your website free of charge. They get this "free" advertising in return for paying you a commission for any sales or click-throughs made on their links.
Joining affiliate programs won't get you rich quickly, but as long as you keep your website content up-to-date and make it interesting and relevant to the affiliate programs you place on the site, your home business should slowly begin to blossom after a bit.

• Website Management
Website management is an important part of every business. Small businesses, in particular, can't often afford to hire a webmaster to update their sites or databases so they hire freelancers to do the work--either on a one-time or ongoing basis. This greatly benefits the company because they don't have to pay taxes, vacations, sick leave and other benefits that quickly drain their revenue. And it benefits home business owners by providing a viable means of earning a living working online.
• Epublishing
If you have experience or knowledge in a particular subject area you can sell your expertise to others in the form of an ebook or short report. Think you don't know anything? You may want to reconsider. What have you been doing the last 10 years?
If you've worked--whether as a legal secretary, an ad agent, a retail store manager, or a short order cook--you have knowledge that can be sold as part of your online business. And ebooks and reports are easy to write and compile. You can find detailed instructions by visiting online writer's forums and websites.
There are many ways you can use the knowledge and skills you have to build a legitimate home based business. The best one for you is the one that fits your personal needs, your personality and lifestyle.
Do you know the difference between an online job and an online business? Basically, the difference is how you're paid and who you work for. If you work an online job, you work for someone else and you're paid by them. If you work an online business, that business is yours. You're the boss, you report to no one else, and you're paid based on the work you do.
The confusing part is when the online business is in direct sales. The reason for the confusion is the checks you receive come from the company you represent. The money you earn comes from products you sell for that company. You may think this type of business is a job, but it's really not. You don't have yearly evaluations, you don't get a raise unless you sell more, and you don't report to anyone.
So which one is better for you? Only you can decide. Think about your personality, think about what kind of income you need, and think about your goals. If you struggle because you don't have someone watching what you do, then you may need to work an online job, so you have someone to report to every day. If you're disciplined and you can handle reporting to yourself, then you could consider an online business.
If you need to pay the bills every month and you're living paycheck to paycheck, you might consider online jobs until you can get to a point where you're not relying on that income. If you need that money to survive, an online business may not be right for you at this time.
Take your goals into consideration when you're deciding on an online job or an online business. Working a full time job outside the home may not be what you want to do for the rest of your life. If that's the case, why not consider one part time in the evenings and on the weekends so you can save money and build an income that will help you quit your job and work full time from home in your own business.
Working online gives you countless opportunities and it's a great way to make money. Whether you're trying to become a work-at-home-parent or you're already a stay-at-home-parent, but need an income so you can continue to stay home, working online is a great way to go. You can work around your schedule and from the comfort of your home. It's the perfect solution for anyone and everyone.

It happens to the best of us, you find yourself in a 9 to 5 job where you are under appreciated, stressed and simply not making the money it's worth to drive to the job. What do you do? Stick it out and hope that it will get better?
Why do this when there is literally tons of online work, jobs, and careers that you can start doing, all while staying in the comfort of your own home. Most people are skeptical of the whole work from home concept but for every one of those people who are skeptical, there are hundred's more who are making this dream a reality.
It's not all scams and schemes, there are legitimate jobs that can be done from home, and it's the search for them that takes time and bit of devotion. As with anything, there are always going to be people trying to make a quick buck and what better way than to focus on people with a need.

When you have found the job, be sure to thoroughly check out the company to be sure they are legitimate. A legitimate company will have you fill out official forms before they have you start working for them or at least before they give you your first payment. This includes a 1099 independent contractor tax form.
You will also need to make sure you have the right tools to work for the company from home, this may be a head set if you are doing phone work, or making sure your computer has the requirements to run any software you may need to download and install.
Most companies who utilize people who work from home will pay on a biweekly schedule via check, where some will offer direct deposit or even pay via paypal. Make sure you have all of this information up front before you start working.
If the part time work at home position works out for you, then you can think about quitting your day job and diving into a full time position from home. Be careful that it is something you are passionate about before taking this important step.
